Matt Kazuma Kinoshita

     Owner and shaper Matt Kazuma Kinoshita was born and raised in Hawaii and has been surfing for more than 30 years and has built a reputation for being one of the top surfer/shapers in Hawaii. Matt was once a top level professional surfer and even the United States Surfing Champion. From 1 foot to 40 feet, Matt is always a standout in the lineup. Now Matt passes all his knowledge to the kids and his Kazuma coaching program has produced several generations of champions. From Dusty Payne to Ian Walsh, the list of superstars from the Kazuma program is second to none.

      Matt learned the art of surfboard shaping from the legendary Master Ben Aipa. "Ben Aipa was my surfing coach and shaping mentor and I was lucky to have studied under sensei Aipa, the person that I consider the greatest shaper of all time." Later in his career, Matt was one of the headline shapers at Hawaiian Island Creations and worked along side Eric Arakawa and Kerry Tokoro. Matt is also a master in surfboard design theory and computer (cad) modeling and collaborates on surfboard designs with many of the top surfboard, windsurf, and kite board shapers in the world. Matt's experience spans the gap between the old school and the new school and he is simply one of a kind.
