Ian Walsh on Matt Kinoshita
Matt Kinoshita is with out a doubt the single most influential surfer and mentor I have had come into my life. I have been surfing with and learning from him for nearly 15 years.
His dedication and commitment to the kids of Maui over the years is something that everyone here needs to take a step back and appreciate, he has led a generation before mine and will continue to lead the next with the likes of his son and all the kids around his age.
The time and energy it takes to help put all of the kids he has helped on the right path towards being better people and professional surfers is something that I don t think anyone can appreciate to it fullest. His guidance has led a good amount of my friends to everything they have ever wanted to get from surfing, myself included. Without his help over the many years I truly feel a good handful of best surfers from Maui would not be where we are now. If I could say one sentence to Matt, it would simply be Thank You!
